Privacy policy
Last updated: September 2026
Savvy is a personal recipe archive. This policy explains what information is collected and how it is used.
Using Savvy without an account
You can use the tool on savvy.cooking without signing in. When you do, Savvy sets one cookie on your browser holding an opaque identifier. It does one job — name your own work back to you. It carries no advertising tag, no page history, and no profile, and it is not used to follow you between sites.
That cookie lasts thirty days. After that, access to work you never moved into an account ends, but the data itself is not deleted.
What Savvy collects
When you sign in with Google, Savvy receives your name, email address, and profile picture from Google. Savvy stores this in a private database to identify your account and personalise the app.
Savvy also stores the recipes, cooking logs, notes, and other content you create inside the app.
How Savvy uses it
Your information is used solely to operate the app — to authenticate you, display your name, and associate your recipes with your account. Savvy does not use it for advertising and does not build a profile of you.
Who processes your information
Savvy relies on service providers who process data on its behalf to run the app.The hosting, database, and file storage providers hold your account and your content. When a recipe is read, cleaned, or worked out, its content is sent to the artificial-intelligence providers to do that. Signing in involves Google, and ingesting a video involves YouTube. Each provider handles only what its job requires, and none of them may use your content for their own purposes.
Savvy does not sell your personal information, and does not share it with anyone for their own purposes.
Data retention
Your data is retained for as long as your account exists. You can close your account yourself from your account settings; closing does not delete anything on the spot. Sixty days after you close it, your account is destroyed — including your cook notes (even ones written on recipes in someone else's collection), every invitation you sent, and your subscription record — along with the images attached to what is destroyed. Recipes made before you have an account stay in that state for thirty days; after that, access to them ends, but the data itself is not deleted.
Changes to this policy
