Recipe to metric calculator
Paste the recipe. The ingredients on their own are enough. Savvy converts every ingredient to metric, the way it already reads for a metric cook.
Free. No account. Nothing to install.
Every ingredient, read as a weight — or read the way a reader’s own system already shows it.
Every ingredient in Savvy carries a weight in grams, the figure baker’s percentages, sweetness and yield are already computed from. Convert to grams puts that same weight in front of you, one line at a time, whatever unit the recipe was written in — a cup, an ounce, an egg, or a gram already.
Convert to metric shows the recipe the way it already reads for a metric cook: an amount already in the metric system stays as it is, an amount outside it converts into grams, and a spoon or a count is left exactly as pasted, because neither belongs to one system over the other.
Grams, ounces, cups and counts, read the way Savvy already reads them.
Savvy converts each line the way its own maths already does: a fixed factor for an ounce, a pound or a stick of butter; the ingredient’s density for a cup, a tablespoon or a teaspoon; its usual weight for a count such as an egg or an onion. A line already in grams needs nothing further.

- 4 ozbutter115 g
- 4eggs240 g

each amount, read through the recipe’s own facts = its weight in grams
A cup measures how much space something fills, not how much it weighs.
Turning a cup, a tablespoon or a teaspoon into grams needs one more fact: the ingredient’s density. Savvy holds that fact for some ingredients and not others, and the same is true of a count’s usual weight.
Where the fact is missing, the line cannot be weighed. It keeps the amount it was pasted with, and its name opens the ingredients it is most likely to be, so picking one lets Savvy try again.

Every recipe you cook, in one place.
Savvy takes a recipe however it arrives — a link, a video, a photograph of a notebook page — and gives it back clean, weighed, and ready to scale. The numbers come out of the recipe, not out of a form.
